FARMINGTON — The 5th “Earth Say Every Day !” electronics recycling day on Saturday, May 5, will give residents an opportunity to responsibly dispose of household electronic devices, otherwise referred to as “e-waste,” instead of disposing of them in a way that could harm the environment and ultimately be dangerous to all life.

As a community service project, old and broken electronics will be collected from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farmington Aubuchon Hardware parking lot on Wilton Road, Route 2/4. Owner Jim Meader has made this convenient location available for the last five years.

Old South Congregational Church’s Fundraising Committee and Justice and Witness have partnered with e-Waste Recycling Solutions of Auburn to provide the opportunity for responsible recycling of TVs, computers, monitors, printers, microwaves, DVD and VCR players, stereos, cell phones, gaming and other electronic devices.

For a list of other electronics that will be accepted, go to www.ewastemaine.com.

The e-waste drop off is open to individuals and families. There is no set fee for this disposal service, although free-will monetary donations will be accepted to support Old South Church’s community service outreach and youth programs.

Businesses interested in recycling e-waste should contact Rick Clark at eWaste Recycling Solutions, a certified electronics recycler, at 449-1709. No early drop offs are allowed. For more information, contact the fundraising committee through the church office at 778-0424.
