LEWISTON — The Lewiston and Auburn public libraries are hosting the first Teen Opportunities Fair on Saturday, April 28, in the Lewiston Public Library’s Callahan Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature exhibits and displays from a number of local businesses and agencies who employ local teenagers or provide services or volunteer opportunities for them.
The fair will feature area organizations supporting local young adults in one or more of the following pursuits: employment, volunteering, internships, continuing education and professional development. The event is free and open to all area teens.
Participants will be able to talk with employers, find out what they are looking for in new hires, and apply for jobs. Other agencies will be providing details on the services and opportunities that they provide. In addition, the fair will feature scavenger hunts, door prizes and free food.
The showcase of local organizations exhibiting at the fair includes Good Shepherd Food Bank, College for ME Androscoggin, ArtVan, the Lewiston Rec. Department, Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce, Hannaford, the Maine League of Young Voters Fund, The Career Center, Art Walk Lewiston Auburn, Pathways, Inc., AmeriCorps, VolunteerMaine.org, 211, Mid Maine Time Bank and more.
