Alumni planning meeting

STRATTON — The Alumni Association of the Dead River Area will hold an alumni planning meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Stratton/Eustis Community building.

Anyone attending schools in Stratton, Flagstaff High School and Mt. Abram Regional High School, Dead River and Coplin Plantations is invited. Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Beekeeping class

FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue RSD Adult and Community Education’s beekeeping class, conducted by Russell Black and John Boque, is inviting all beekeepers and interested people to a one night presentation by Tony Jadczak, state apiarist, at 6 p.m. Monday, April 30, at Mt. Blue Middle School.

Jadczak will address bee diseases and medications needed plus questions from the audience. The presentation is open to the public but requires registration to reserve space. Call Adult Ed. at 778-3460 to register.

Ladies/community breakfast

RANGELEY — The next Ladies/Community Breakfast with everyone invited to attend will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at BMC Diner on Richardson Street.

Peer Support open house

LIVERMORE FALLS — Friends Together Peer Support and Recovery Center will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 4, at the new location, 31 Park St.

The annual yard sale will be held on June 3 and 4, weather permitting. Donations of goods and funds will be appreciated.

Literacy group plans sales

FARMINGTON — Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties will hold the yearly book sale during the first weekend of May at the Elk’s Lodge on School Street. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. Donations of old books in good condition for the sale are appreciated. A rummage sale will be held all day on Saturday, May 19, rain or shine, in the parking lot of the Village Realty, Route 2, East Wilton.

Fire prevention program

FARMINGTON — Franklin County Farm Bureau, the Farmington Fire Department and the Giddy-Up & Go 4-H Club will sponsor a fire prevention/preparedness program from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Farmington Fairgrounds.

This program is open to the public but will be focusing on farm fire prevention. Demonstrations, discussions and exhibits will be presented to help pinpoint potential hazards and what can be done to minimize the chance of fire in barns and other buildings. Also addressed will be the types of information that need to be available in the event of a crisis and what should be included in an emergency plan. Free refreshments will be provided. The program will be held rain or shine.

Franklin County Farm Bureau also plans to host several other informational programs in the coming months. Currently being planned are a large animal rescue program and one focusing on insurance. Community breakfast

KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast is being offered Saturday, May 5, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Kingfield United Methodist Church.

The menu will include pancakes, homemade sausage gravy with biscuits, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home-fries, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 per person, all you can eat. A discounted rate is available for children. For more information, call the church at 265-4921. The proceeds benefit the church.
