FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Budget Committee will meet at noon Thursday, May 3, to discuss proposed department budgets and program grants at the commissioners’ office at the county courthouse.

Several members of the committee attended the commissioners’ review of the proposed $5.29 million budget for 2012-13. That figure includes all departments’ requests.

Commissioners trimmed $34,996 from the proposal earlier this month. About $1.6 million of the proposal is to operate the Franklin County jail.

The Budget Committee will begin its review with the commissioners’ office budget. It will also take a look at budgets for probate, district attorney, sheriff and communications and emergency agency.

Then committee will review program grants for Tri-County Mental Health, Western Maine Transportation, Sexual Assault Victims Emergency Services and Western Maine Community Action.

The panel’s schedule sets review of those department budgets and agency requests in 15-minute intervals, beginning at noon and running to 2:30 p.m.
