I have heard all the comments regarding who is to blame for all the mistakes in the state’s Tree Growth program. Well, who writes the plans, reviews the lots, reviews the deeds, and is supposed to be following all guidelines and laws when those plans are submitted to the town assessor for filing? And who gets paid to do this?
A state-licensed forester does.
So, who should be held accountable for Bruce Poliquin’s land issues — the assessor or the forester who wrote the plan and was paid to do it?
All of us in the Tree Growth program are taking a bad hit, publicly, for one politician’s problem.
Tree Growth is a good program when overseen by responsible foresters. Apparently, sometimes money comes before responsibility.
I would review that plan and see who wrote it and start asking questions.
Bruce Hanson, South Paris
