DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was wondering if you or any of your readers know of a place to get some foam rubber to use as a mattress in a homemade trailer, where a regular mattress won’t fit; the size is 4 by 6 feet and it should be about 6 inches thick.

ANSWER: Sun Spots’ experts suggested the fabric warehouse in Auburn, so she’s afraid she doesn’t have a local option. She suspects you could have a custom mattress made, but it wouldn’t be cheap.

At foamorder.com, you can get a 6-inch, 53- by 75-inch (close to your size) piece of foam rubber that the site says is good enough for camping for $165.

Perhaps readers will be able to help.

DEAR SUN SPOTS, I, too, have noticed that the difficulty level of the puzzles has increased. Before the change, I could usually plan on solving them from Monday through Saturday and the occasional Sunday. Now, I’m all done by Wednesday.

I think that your Jody must be a lawyer or a politician in that her response was no real answer to our question. Could you perhaps rephrase it for her? Thanks for your help. I really enjoy your column. — C. Abbott, Buckfield

ANSWER: There is no doubt that Jody is extremely diplomatic, but that does not mean her answer was inaccurate. The Sun Journal does not create those puzzles — it purchases them from a service — so they determine the level of difficulty.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Pathways would like to thank readers for the many boxes of donations the agency has received in the past few weeks. We have gotten some great supplies, and our individuals are having a blast and developing many skills!

We are going to have one more effort to make ends meet with gathering much-needed supplies and money to cover fees to community events.

Pathways would like to ask the community to donate any returnable bottles and cans to the Community Support Program at Pathways. If you would like to drop off your returnables, please do so at 368 or 589 Minot Avenue, Monday through Friday, May 14-18, or call me to arrange pickup.

Your donations will help our staff support these individuals to continue to grow in their communities and gain the many natural supports everyone needs to be a productive part of society.
