LEWISTON — La Rencontre, the monthly French language luncheon series, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 4, at the Franco-American Heritage center, 46 Cedar St.
Entertainers for the luncheon will be pianist Connie Cote and singer Bob Morin. Admission is $7; meal is roast pork medallions, scalloped potatoes, green beans, chocolate cream pie and beverages.
Cote has served 12 consecutive years on the board of directors at the Franco Center and is the volunteer coordinator and house manager for all Franco Center performances. Over the years, she was musical director for several musical presentations for the Community Little Theater.
Cote continues to host the French radio program “La Revue Francaise” on EZR 1240 on Sunday mornings and has served as an organist at the St. Peter and Paul Basilica and St. Patrick’s Church.
Morin sang with Magic Pops, which later changed its name to Magic and Company, and also sang with the family band Just Us. He performed on stage with St. Dom’s Family Theatre in several plays, including the role of Teyve in “Fiddler on the Roof.” A member of the choir at Holy Cross for many years, Morin occasionally served as cantor at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn.
Together, they will be performing a program of songs, including Broadway favorites from “My Fair Lady,” “Carousel,” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” and selections from French entertainer Edith Piaf.
