JAY — A trash-compacting truck was demolished Thursday after a front tire blew and it went off Route 133.

Roland Begin, 65, of Livermore was driving the truck toward Farmington, and was south of Macomber Hill Road in Jay, when the driver’s side front tire blew, Jay officer Russell Adams said.

He was not hurt, the officer said.

Begin lost control of the truck and it went off the left side of the road and tipped onto the driver’s side, he said. It took three wreckers from Dutch Gap Auto in Chesterville to roll it back over, he said.

The 1995 Ford, owned by Tri-Town Sanitation Co. of Livermore Falls, was damaged beyond repair, Adams said.

Jay Fire Rescue Department helped with traffic control, he said.
