LEWISTON — The Maine Music Society will conclude its 20th anniversary season with two performances of “Broadway Musicals on Film” on May 19-20 at the Franco-American Heritage Center.

Two years ago, the Androscoggin Chorale presented the first of its “Music from the Movies” concerts, which featured music composed solely for the big screen. Last year, the singers focused on Beatles’ tunes.

For the  third concert, the Chorale will present solos and choruses from popular Broadway shows that made it to the big screen. Songs range from “Carousel” by Rodgers and Hammerstein to “Sweeney Todd” by Stephen Sondheim.

The Chorale, led by Maine Music Society Artistic Director John Corrie, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20. For tickets, call LA Arts at 782-7228 or visit www.mainemusicsociety.org. The Franco Center is at Cedar and Oxford streets.

The Maine Music Society will draw the winners of its fundraising raffle for a TV and restaurant gift certificate at the May 20 performance. Tickets, $5, are available up to the time of the drawing. Raffle tickets may also be purchased by calling 782-7228 or contacting Chorale members.
