TURNER — Winning pitcher Adrie Newton hammered out a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to unlatch a 4-4 tie and help give Leavitt an 8-4 victory over Mt. View in a softball game Friday.

The Hornets were leading 4-2 going until the fifth inning when Mt. View tied the game with two runs.

In the second inning, Michelle Morin smacked a homer in the second inning. Teammates Newton and catcher Annie Castonguay each two hits.

For Mt. View, Wendy Gibbs had a pair of hits.

Bangor 6, Edward Little 5

AUBURN — Junior pitcher Alexis Stanhope fanned 13 batters and plated the eventual game-winning run as Bangor nipped Edward Little 6-5 in KVAC softball action Friday.

Kamdra Prendergast contributed a pair of hits, including a double for the Rams (8-1).

Kory Norcross pounded out three hits, including a pair of doubles for the Red Eddies (3-7).

Medomak Valley 10, Oak Hill 3

WALES — Medomak Valley erased a 3-0 deficit and capitalized on Oak Hill’s miscues en route to a 10-3 victory in Class B softball Friday

Medomak Valley pounded out 12 hits and was led by Heidi Obuchon’s double and two singles. Dani Hunt followed with a double and a single for the Panthers (8-1). Mallory Conary, Maria Ennamorati, and Taylor Simmons all had a pair of singles apiece in the win. Brooke LeBel had a couple of singles and Kortni Michaud ripped a two-run double for the Raiders (5-4).

Wiscasset 6, Mountain Valley 3

RUMFORD — Trailing 2-0, Wiscasset scored five times in the second inning and held on for a 6-3 victory over Mountain Valley in softball action.

Wiscasset (4-4) pushed across the five runs and added another in the fourth, taking advantage of five Mountain Valley errors. Shauna Laubauskas smacked a triple and Delaney Patterson ripped a double and a towering home run in the loss. Brooke Dolloff took the loss for the Falcons (5-3).

Oxford Hills 4, Lawrence 1

SOUTH PARIS — Abby Bernier had a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to help lift Oxford Hills to a 4-1 victory over Lawrence in softball action.

Lawrence cut the Vikings 2-0 lead with a run in the top half of the fifth inning before its extra insurance runs. Brianna Martin had a triple and a double for Oxford Hills (7-2).

Crystal West notched the victory while also adding a double.

Allison Blaisdell, Sophie Lindsay, Kaitlyn Spaulding, and Ally Dyer all had multiple hits for the Bulldogs (1-8).

Dirigo 10, St. Dom’s 9

DIXFIELD — Tasha DeRoche belted two home runs to help lift Dirigo to a 10-9 triumph over St. Dom’s in a back-and-forth MVC softball match.

Dirigo jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning before the Saints (2-7) tallied four runs in the second for a brief lead. The Cougars (4-5) retook the lead with two runs in their half of the second.

The score remained until the top of the fifth when Mary Caron smashed a two-run home run for St. Dom’s as it plated four runs, taking an 8-5 lead.

After adding another run, St. Dom’s took a 9-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning. Dirigo scored four runs in the sixth and another in the bottom of the seventh to earn the victory.

Ambyr Wilson got the win for Dirigo despite allowing nine runs over seven innings.

She struck out five, walked seven and gave up eight hits. Dirigo’s Natalie Bolduc, DeRoche, and Alyssa Charity combined for 12 hits and seven RBIs in

the victory.

Lacrosse

Lewiston 14, Oxford Hills 8

PARIS — Natalie Rousseau and Lauren Lessard each scored four goals as Lewiston dispatched Oxford Hills with a 14-8 victory over stubborn Oxford Hills in a girls’ lacrosse game Friday.

The Blue Devils (6-1) held an 8-3 advantage by halftime. Lewiston’s Taylor Hamel and Mariah Carrier each scored two goals. Laurianne Murphy and Kelsey Dumond each scored a goal.

For the Vikings (4-3), Danielle Allen scored four goals and Abby Morton added three. Kristen Gamache dropped in a goal, too.
