PARIS — A sex offender charged with abusing a teen girl pleaded guilty Monday in Oxford County Superior Court and was sentenced to serve six months.

Christopher Lee Sheldon, 27, of 23 Mason St., Apt. 18, in Bethel, pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual abuse of a minor. He received six months, as well as 5 years suspended for the three charges. Sheldon will be on probation for two years after his release, and is now a lifetime registrant on the Sex Offender Registry.

Sheldon was arrested Jan. 5 after Rumford police received a complaint from a 16-year-old girl, Rumford police Detective Sgt. James Bernard told the Sun Journal in January. The girl said she had been involved in a sexual relationship with Sheldon starting when she was 15.

Sheldon was convicted on Nov. 14, 2005, of unlawful sexual contact in Androscoggin County Superior Court in Auburn. At the time, he was placed on the Sex Offender Registry for 10 years, and was set to be removed from the registry in 2015.

He is not allowed contact with females under 16 years and is to have no contact with the victim.
