DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to thank all of those who had a part in putting on the Touch a Truck event on April 28 at Central Maine Community College for the young and young at heart.

I attended with my wife, 2 1/2-year-old grandson and the dog. We expected to be gone in a half hour, but we stayed more than three hours.

There is nothing more enjoyable than the look on a child’s face as he climbs into a big rig and gives the air horn a long blast (several times). This was a great family event. Again, thanks for all the hard work everyone put into it. — Dana Cook, Durham

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My husband and I recently attended a “flip your house” seminar in Portland. We were given an opportunity to sign up for a three-day seminar to be held May 18, 19 and 20. It cost us $200 for the weekend.

We paid our fee, but now they notified us that the seminar date has changed to the following weekend. We are not able to attend on the new date. We have called the number in the booklet but cannot get through to a live person. We would like a refund.

Can you help? The number that I have is 888-807-9964. This is for the company called Fortune Builders. Thank you for your help! — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots had no trouble getting through on the number you provided. Brad, who answered the phone, said if you were calling early in the morning you might have been stymied because they are based in San Diego, which has a time zone three hours behind Maine.

Sun Spots gave Brad your contact information. He said he would call and email you the form you need to fill out to begin the refund process.

Sun Spots always advises anyone purchasing anything with an unfamiliar vendor to use a credit (not a debit) card. That way you have some recourse (you can file a dispute with your credit card company) if the product or service is not up to snuff.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The harness racing association is supposed to run a referendum at Biddeford in either 2013 or 2014. I have not seen which one it is. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to find out which year. Thank you. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots is afraid you’re a bit late to the vote. The Biddeford racino was defeated on Nov. 8, along with the proposed Lewiston casino.

Sun Spots called the Biddeford city manager’s office to see if it had any plans to re-launch a racino campaign and was told that at this time they do not.
