FARMINGTON — “Open Art Studios 2012” will be held Friday and Saturday, May 18-19, at 155 Pleasant St. and 382 Barker Road, just over the town line in New Vineyard.
Featured will be artwork by the late Joe Park, as well as by Nora West, Janet M. Washburn, Maria Logan, Margie Austin, Joyce Dubay, and husband and wife, Su and Richard Johnson.
Park was known for his Impressionistic style, painting many local scenes and historical buildings in the area. Many of his paintings include local people at parades and auctions. He helped organize the Franklin County Artists.
West has lived in New Portland for the past 35 years. She likes to paint places with a history or scenes unlikely to remain the way they are today.
Washburn works mainly in watercolor and enjoys painting the coast of Maine, especially Monhegan Island.
Logan works in oil and acrylic, sometimes in an abstract format of vibrant color schemes.
Austin is known for her oil collages of special events and family gatherings, and the many trees that grab her attention.
Dubay’s signature is animal subjects, but she also paints flowers and landscapes in oil, watercolors or mixed media.
Su Johnson has done landscapes, flowers and many coastal scenes, including Monhegan Island. Richard Johnson, a sculptor working in clay and bronze, is known for his blueberry pottery and does face mugs, large vases and jugs.
“Open Art Studios 2012” will from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 18; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 19.
