That there might be an uprising and a change of the administration if the impression goes abroad that the situation in Lewiston is bad, was one of the things which Mayor Morey told the Lewiston police force, Friday afternoon. Both Mr. Morey and City Marshall Cailier told the officers to enforce the rule regarding the closing of the barrooms. They must be closed at 10 P.M. daily, except 11 P.M. Saturday, and must remain closed all day Sunday. It was the occasion of the spring changing in the beats of the officers. The doors of the guard room were closed throughout the proceeding, as they were last fall, but the remarks were of such interest that they have already leaked out.

Construction is well under way at the Lewiston-Auburn area’s first 18-hole country club golf course, with the official opening scheduled to be held next spring. The Fairlawn Golf and Country Club, which is located on the Empire Road in Poland, is being designed by Charles (Chic) Adams of Madeira Beach, Fla., well-known architect of golf courses. A native of Aberdeen, Scotland, and the son of a Scottish golf professional, Adams described the site of the Fairlawn course as one of the most outstanding he’s ever worked on.

(Editorial)  If the current trend in public rhetoric is any indication, the towns of Livermore, Livermore Falls and Jay may be in for a long, hot summer when it comes to the contract negotiation between two unions bargaining for 1,200 workers and International Paper Co. Neither side will gain from a prolonged battle, The scars in Rumford can still be seen from last summer’s strike at Boise Cascade.
