DEAR SUN SPOTS: You certainly seem to be able to help all of us out here one way or another, so I am hoping you can help me find one or more sources who can help me with getting started making a quilt using old T-shirt logos.

I have been collecting them over the years when the shirts wear out and thought it might be great to remember all the good times with the shirts if we had a quilt made with the logos.

ANSWER: Sun Spots has actually had some relevant experience with T-shirt quilts. Years ago her mother made several for Mr. Sun Spots as Christmas gifts. She sewed the stretchy material onto a backing or used a border to hold it in place.

Also, in a similar vein, a reader wrote asking how to make a quilt out of old swimsuits, and received the following response:

In reply to the Feb. 11, 2011, column regarding making a quilt from old bathing suits, I would use iron-on Pellon. I have made two T-shirt quilts, and the Pellon worked very well. Just follow the instructions that come with it. My quilts are beautiful. Good luck! — Etta Meade, Springfield, Mass.

I am an American Legion chaplain from the Granada/Lebanon conflict from the early 1980s. We are in dire need of veterans who proudly served in the American Armed Forces, whether male or female, to join our post.

I am currently in Post No. 204 in Monmouth and live in Leeds. There must be more veterans than just me in Leeds who are proud veterans who have served this wonderful country of our and live in this area.

We are currently just a small post and meet only in the summertime at the Monmouth Fish and Game on Route 202. We meet every third Tuesday of the month and charge a very little fee for an entire year’s enrollment.
