NORWAY — The Stone-Smart Unit 82 American Legion Auxiliary met May 9 with president Thelma Denlinger presiding.

A moment of silence was held in Ellen Snow’s memory. Donations were made to USO in her memory, as that was one of her favorite programs.

Poppy Days were held on May 11.

The Auxiliary will take part in the Memorial Day parade and services. The Color Guard will be marching. Members will serve coffee and donuts. Beulah Ayer is the chairman.

The Post and Unit will hold a yard sale on July 20 and 21 at Great Scott Storage, Route 26, in Oxford. Any donations would be appreciated. Funds will benefit veterans, their families and the community.

Kathy Neary, Joyce Clifford, and Eleanor Durant volunteered to serve on the Scholarship Committee.

Rose Moulton reported that Christine Weiss’s son Bill has donated his mother’s collection of Beanie Babies to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

Installation of officers was held with past department president Nancy True as installing officer; Carolann Huntington, sgt.-at-arms; Slim Huntington, chaplain. Officers installed were Thelma Denlinger, president; Kathy Neary, first vice-president; Marjy Sessions, second vice-president; Joyce Clifford, secretary; Rose Moulton, treasurer; Marcy Dullea, chaplain; Carmie Rideout, historian; Theresa Dodge, sgt.-at-arms.

A chicken pie supper preceded the meeting co-chaired by Kathy Near and Thelma Denlinger and aided by Leona Crooker.

Cody Phillips was a guest of the Post and was recognized as he will go to a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game where he will receive an award for being the most improved student at Harrison School.
