LIVERMORE FALLS — A Livermore man was arrested Monday after a police officer asked him to pick up a plant and its attached root ball that he had slammed down in the middle of the road.

The man ended up picking up the plant after refusing to do so. He then threw it and hit the windshield of a car going by, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said. The car kept going and appeared to have no damage.

Officer Vern Stevens arrested Allen Buzzell, 23, on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

Police are also asking the court to have Buzzell pay $145 in restitution for cleaning and decontaminating a police cruiser, Steward said. After Buzzell was arrested , he spit all over the inside of the cruiser, Steward said.

Stevens initially saw Buzzell carrying a plant with a ball of dirt connected to it at the intersection of Foundry Road, Depot and Main streets and saw him slam it down in the middle of the road, near the Chuck Wagon Restaurant, Steward said.
