DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to remind you of the existence of Books N Things in Norway when someone asks you where to find a book. A reader inquired about the author Karen Kingsbury (May 18), and you referred her to a variety of sources, not one of which was a local independent bookstore.

We carry a number of titles by Karen Kingsbury and are also happy to order, as well as ship, books. We have many customers from the Lewiston-Auburn area, and the Sun Journal is our local newspaper. Please keep us in mind for the next inquiry and by doing so, keep local businesses alive! — Erica Jed

ANSWER: Erica is quite right. Sun Spots has not done a good job of promoting local booksellers. She plans to remedy that today with as complete a list as she can compile. If she left someone out — and she tried very hard not to — please let her know so she can update the list.

Every store owner Sun Spots spoke to expressed his or her willingness to order whatever books they might not have in stock and to ship them to you as well.

Also, most public libraries have annual sales of used books, but Sun Spots did not have room to list them all. She did include the Auburn and Lewiston libraries, which sell books more frequently or on an ongoing basis.
