LEWISTON — North Country Associates announces that Russell Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, 158 Russell St., is the recipient of the company’s safety award.

The award is given to any of their facilities that have completed at least 12 months without a lost-time accident. Russell Park was recognized for 36 months without a lost-time accident.

The employees are eligible for a drawing to win one of several $25 gift certificates.

North Country started the safety program in 1991 to encourage safe work practices. Each facility has a safety committee that reviews the incidents that occur each month and makes recommendations to prevent injury in the future. Upon being hired and as a refresher yearly, each employee attends “Back School” to learn how to lift properly and avoid strains. In addition, the individual facilities have their own banners, games and awards to keep everyone thinking about working safely.
