LEWISTON — City crews reopened Wiseman Bridge on Chestnut Street about 3:15 p.m. Friday several hours after a Pepsi truck got stuck when it hit the top stanchion.
Crews from Maine Department of Transportation responded to the site along with city crews. The bridge spans the city’s canals.
In an unrelated incident, just after 1:15 p.m. downtown traffic started backing up at Lisbon and Cedar streets, because city employees were repairing a sinkhole on Lisbon Street.
By nightfall, the hole was repaired and traffic was moving normally.

A sink hole near the corner of Lisbon and Cedar streets prompted a traffic detour early Friday afternoon. “I drove down the street around 12:30p.m. and noticed a small hole in the road,” Steve Damien of the Lewiston Public Works’ traffic division said. “As I was calling for help and diverting traffic. I watched the asphalt crumble in and knew we had a problem.”
