SCARBOROUGH — Three people were taken to the hospital with injuries following a chemical spill Sunday afternoon that brought hazmat crews from throughout Cumberland County to a company in Scarborough.

WGME Channel 13 news reported Sunday evening that the three people were taken to the hospital after coming into contact with a chemical used at the QuantumClean facility on Gibson Road. The extent of their injuries was unknown. Officials said they would be OK.

Pleasant Hill Road in Scarborough was closed to traffic for a short period of time in response to the spill but reopened late Sunday afternoon, according to WGME.

Emergency crews with hazmat training from throughout Cumberland County were initially called in to assist.

According to its website, the company is headquartered in Dublin, Pa., and provides comprehensive parts and cleaning solutions, restoration and surface conditioning for several different types of industries.
