AUBURN — Beloved grandmother, Cecile Dodge, passed away peacefully Friday, June 1, in her Auburn home.
Cecile was born in Lewiston in 1931 and met her husband, Arthur “Red” Dodge, while in her late teens. The couple traveled across the country for Red’s job with the U.S. Air Force, before settling back in Twin Cities to raise their son, Ricky Dodge, in 1957.
Cecile was a selfless woman, faithful wife and hard worker, always putting others’ needs before her own and keeping a resilient, light-hearted attitude that helped her weather some of life’s tougher moments.
A model of strength and compassion, Cecile was dearly loved by her grandchildren, Matthew and Emily, her son, Ricky and his wife, Wendy and Cecile’s daughter-in-law, Cathy Dodge.
Cecile was always there for her family in times of need and her grandchildren will warmly remember Wednesday afternoons at Nanny’s spent watching the Sci-Fi channel and being mercilessly beaten in games of rummy.
At the end, Cecile was able to have her entire family by her side in her Auburn home, a familiar place filled with warm memories of marriage, motherhood and kind neighbors.
Cecile was always one to drive a hard bargain, and we know that she is up there somewhere haggling with God over the cost of knick-knacks at a yard sale in the heavens.
