OXFORD — Past Department President Jeri Greenwell addressed the American Legion Auxiliary Second District meeting at Oxford on May 6.

As children and youth department chairwoman, she gave information on many subjects that affect children and youth.

Greenwell said children at the Barbara Bush Hospital like extra-large pillow cases made from colorful cloth.

Military kids and family members like quilts of any kind – sewed, knit or crocheted – for children, teens and adults. They are also needed for homeless children and family members, she said.

There is a need for backpacks for homeless children and foster children. Items to fill the backpacks are also needed.

The American Legion Auxiliary also supports the New Beginnings for Youth Program. New and like-new clothing and personal items are needed.

Greenwell said the Auxiliary asks for support from all units and the public. Items may be brought to a local Auxiliary.
