FARMINGTON — The Arts Institute of Western Maine will present Hannah Sloane-Barton and Friends at a vocal recital with pianist Patricia Hayden on Saturday, June 23.
Sloane-Barton, a recent graduate of Bard College as a voice major, will perform art songs by Wolf and Brahms, operatic arias by Puccini and Handel, and songs by Purcell and Rorem.
She will be joined in two songs by Sam Sytsma.
Initially a violinist, Sloane-Barton, who grew up in the Farmington area and attended Mt. Blue High School, redirected her focus to voice under the mentorship of Jane Parker. While at Bard College, she participated in many recitals and operas, including graduate workshops that staged large performances of operatic scenes.
Among her many accomplishments, Sloane-Barton took center stage in a solo aria with the American Symphony Orchestra. She plans to take some time off and also audition and sing in the Collegiate Chorale in New York City. Long-range plans include a graduate degree in music.
The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at Nordica Auditorium on the University of Maine at Farmington campus. Donations will be accepted.
