AUBURN — Eight teams are scheduled to lace up their skates Saturday, June 9, in the third annual Celebration of Courage co-ed hockey tournament at Ingersoll Arena.

The tournament is a fundraiser in honor of area resident and hockey player Kylee Gendron, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Prior to her passing, Kylee requested that all funds raised by this year’s event be donated not to her own cause and family, but instead to another area family whose life had been affected by cancer. This year’s recipients are Dean and Cheri Sargent. At Easter this year, Cheri was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The Sargent family has four children under the age of 14.

The tournament features eight teams filled with area players, men and women, with specific rules about the number of women and men on the ice at all times. While the tourney is full for registration of teams, the Celebration of Courage committee is looking for fans of all ages to cheer on the teams that will be competing for this great cause. Hockey, friends, food, fun, celebrating courage of families fighting cancer and “Keepin’ On,’ in Kylee’s spirit. Revelation Massage will join this community event and give free chair massages to fans and hockey players from 2 to 5 p.m.

The championship game is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. After the tournament, organizers, teams and fans are welcome to join together at Gritty’s in Auburn, Local band The Veggies will provide the entertainment.
