If President Barack Obama is re-elected for another four years, Americans will need to stockpile dried and non-perishable food to feed families. It will be important to grow and harvest as much as possible to prepare for the inevitable increase in the cost of living. Gasoline and heating oil prices will escalate again after the elections.
Furthermore, Obama has mentioned cutting benefits such as Medicare and Social Security, and only God knows what else he has in mind to cause more hardship for Americans, young and old; especially the senior citizens and those already in poverty.
Soon, voters will need to decide if they want four more years of another downfall in the economy by re-electing Obama. Looking back, I am sure America wasn’t on the verge of a total failure when a Republican was president. However, if Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate, wins the election, there is an element of doubt.
It will be extremely difficult to decide who to elect for president. The choices are President Obama and Romney, unless voters choose to write in someone.
I hope and pray that after the outcome of the 2012 election, the president-elect will begin the next four years by energizing America back to a solvency mode and that he will gain control of foreign affairs and the uncertainties beyond.
Robert Lacombe, Sabattus
