DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have recently unearthed a collection of costume jewelry of the gauche/gaudy variety — you know, the type with big multi-strands and screw-on/clip-on earrings. It’s a fun hobby.

I am hoping Sun Spots and her readers can help me enjoy and extend my collection by providing the following information:

* The location of any flea markets or antique malls featuring jewelry within a 100-mile radius of Lewiston-Auburn.

* Any ideas for displaying and/or decorating with sets or pieces.

* Any talented person who can repair such pieces.

Please leave a message at 402-1017. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots does not have any resources in costume jewelery, but there surely must be some fans out there. Readers?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read the May 12 letter from Gerry Hawke of Canada about finding a suitcase and photo from “Mush” Moore.

My daughter, Jennifer Leigh McShee Moore Welch, is very interested in this suitcase and picture. Her life has been empty of anything to do with the Moores. Her family has passed away, and she feels so alone. This would help her memory of her family. — Bonnie McShee Gammon, Auburn

ANSWER: Gerry provided an email address for a contact: gerry.hawke@sasktel.net. If you and your daughter don’t have a computer, you can go to the library and ask them to help you send Gerry your daughter’s address and phone number via email. Or send it to Sun Spots via snail mail and she’ll send it on for you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My wife and I watch Red Sox baseball every game they play. There’s a gentleman that sits in the bleachers right in front of home plate in the first or second row just about each game. My question is: Why does he wear earphones that have yellow around the earpieces? Thanks. — normv6151@gmail.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots’ editor directed her to a blog by the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo, who wrote:

“That’s Jeremy Kapstein, the pioneer sports agent. He’s the former president/CEO of the San Diego Padres and has served as Larry Lucchino’s senior adviser for more than 10 years with the Red Sox and with the Padres before that.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Memorial Day weekend we went to the Damon Cemetery in Buckfield to put flowers on our parents’ graves. When we got out of our jeep, we noticed our tire was going flat.

Not knowing how to change the tire, we decided to seek some help. We want to thank the lady in the green Dodge truck who stopped to help us, and the young man, who was with his wife and young child, who changed our tire.

We tried to pay these people, but neither one would take any money.

There are still good people in this world who are willing to help others in time of need. We can’t remember these people’s names but would like to say “thank you!” — The Twins via email
