AUBURN — As a way to raise men’s awareness about health issues affecting them, a men’s health and wellness fair is being organized to coincide with National Men’s Health Week, which takes place the week prior to and including Father’s Day.
“The Tools You Can Use: Men’s Health and Wellness Fair” will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department Hasty Community Center.
Men die an average of five years younger than women and many of these deaths could be prevented. According to the Men’s Health Network, the top five leading causes are heart disease, cancer, unintentional injuries, stroke and respiratory illness.
The fair will feature free health screenings such as blood pressure and skin. Revelations Massage will be present to talk about the health benefits of massage and to offer free chair massages.
Health professionals and individuals from community organizations will be on hand to provide health and wellness information to men and their families. Fly fishing demonstrations will be provided.
