WINDHAM — Leona Mildred Doucette (Elwell), daughter of Leon and Mildred Elwell, born Sept. 13, 1921, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, June 11.

She graduated from Westbrook High School and married Carroll Watson Doucette April 11, 1942. She worked at S.D. Warren Paper Co. during World War II, while her husband was stationed in Europe. Mrs. Doucette worked for the Windham school lunch program, but her family was her primary focus.

Tic, as she was known to her family and friends, was active in the Girl Scouts, a longtime member of the Garden Club and Ladies Guild and North Windham Union Church, UCC, where she was the Sunday school superintendent for many years. Tic loved to travel and had many adventures with the Roadrunners.

She had four children, Doreen Doucette Witt (Joseph Witt), Sharon Doucette Tirrell (Robert Tirrell), Michael Doucette (Deborah Sylvester) and Patricia Doucette Southard (Dale Southard); seven grandchildren, Jessica Rainsford, Ellen Greaves, Alexander Tirrell, Danielle Caron, Rae Anne Nguyen, Teri Anne Southard and Christopher Witt; eight great-grandchildren, Luke and Samuel Rainsford, Emily and Chloe Donatelli, Jacob and Graham Caron and Tyler and Natalie Nguyen; Mrs. Doucette was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her sister, Bette Leighton and family.

Mrs. Doucette was predeceased by her husband; two brothers; and two sisters. She will be dearly missed.
