RANGELEY — In one of its shortest meetings on record, the School Committee ran through all public business in less than an hour Tuesday, including approval of three new faculty members and a new school nurse.

Allison Miles was approved as the third-grade teacher, and Allison Attura for the fourth grade. Attura has been an education technician in special education at the school for four years. Cheryl Morton, approved as special education teacher, has been a special education technician at the school for at least six years. Her approval is conditional on her certification, based on a class she is taking that will wrap up this summer.

Lindsay Savage, the new school nurse, is a registered nurse at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Superintendent Brian Foster said the board would get results on voting on the school budget from the town clerk. Noon Friday was set for opening the bids on replacing the school’s windows.

Principal Sherry Connally said the girls’ team had made it to the Western Maine Class D Softball Championship. They play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, unless called for rain, which would be determined at game time.

Connally also reported that registration for next year’s kindergarten and first-grade classes were 18 for each class.

Ginny Nuttall of the Technology Committee said the exam for seniors’ tech skills had been satisfactory. The exam is an assessment of skills not tied to a class; it satisfies state requirements, but is not credit related.

Five board members submitted self-evaluation forms to Foster, who gave the seven remaining members extra time to complete their forms.

Chairman Harold Schaetzle called an executive session to discuss personnel.
