When Wisconsin’s Gov. Scott Walker won the union-spearheaded recall, the Sun Journal, in this union-priority state, promptly put that crucial victory headline right in the last two columns of A7 of eight pages.

What beat it out?

The Oxford Casino opening, a Kiwanis Club event canceled, Haitian soccer star, Air Force training, lottery numbers, the standard A-section items and a few other items of lesser importance.

The weather got better coverage.

Haven’t we learned from the poor choices of CNN and MSNBC that credibility is your hallmark unless you waste it?

Many of Maine’s politicians enjoy strong, relentless union support. Mike Michaud and Chellie Pingree work hard for unions, yet do poorly at speaking up for the majority of Maine’s workers.

Will it take Maine turning red this year to stop job-killing policies?

A delay in doing so will result in a national fiscal train wreck. Most of Lewiston’s members of the Maine Legislature emulate Maine’s congressional big spenders, and their records show how they cradled unions, contributed to Maine’s spending/budget shortfalls and created the shutdowns so any “state” need that you had waited for another day.

That punishes job seekers. Don’t legislators know that? Where did those truthful stories appear? Is that a harbinger of how reporting on key issues will be presented, or hidden, depending on who it helps?

Lewiston’s new legislators have to work on real problems this time around. Choose wisely.

I choose red.
