LEWISTON — The Lewiston Farmers’ Market at Bates Mill 5 will open for the season on Sunday, June 17, Father’s Day, at 10 a.m. at the municipal parking lot on the corner of Lincoln and Main streets. It will be open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., through the middle of October.

Family-friendly activities for the day include live music, a Father’s Day raffle and an arts and activity table where kids and mom can make something special for dad.

New small business Forage Market and Cafe on Lisbon Street will be serving their famous wood-fired brick oven bagels with all the fixings. Picnic tables and chairs will be available for visitors to sit and enjoy good food and good company. Visitors to the market can expect to shop with some 24 new and returning vendors selling farm fresh vegetables, seasonal fruit, grass fed beef, chicken, lamb, pork, rabbit, artisan cheese and dairy, homemade baked goods, live lobster and seafood, maple products, fresh cut flowers, perennial plants, handcrafted soap, local art and craft, knife sharpening and more.

The market provides area farmers, artists and crafts people with a venue to sell their products directly to consumers. The Lewiston Farmers’ Market is sponsored by St. Mary’s Health System and is supported by staff and volunteers from the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center.
