LEWISTON — A surprise anniversary party for Herman and Carole Gatchell Sr. was held at Marco’s Restaurant. The event was planned by their three children, Herman Gatchell Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Todd Gatchell and Mr. and Mrs. David Procter.

The couple met when he was a Marine stationed in Portsmouth and she a student at CMMC School of  Technology. Mr. Gatchell retired from UPS as a tractor trailer driver and Mrs. Gatchell from Stephens Memorial Hospital as an X-ray technologist.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, they went on a trip to Panama City and through the Canal.
 
Guests present to celebrate with the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lemarie, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Harwood, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fuller, Richard Audet, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Varney, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morin, Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Trainer and sons Philip and Shaun, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Vaughn, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Chretien, John Fox and Carole, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Gatchell, Margaret Bernhardt, Tracey Lopez, and daughter, Autumn, Fran Poliquin, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Gosselen and son, Owen, Ashley Wescott and children, Aubrianna and Mason, Andrew Gatchell and Nathaniel, Benjamin and Samuel Procter.
