Tri-NY Family Triathlon

YARMOUTH — The third annual Tri-NY: North Yarmouth Family Triathlon will be held Saturday, June 23, at 10 a.m. Individuals or teams may register for one $15 fee, which includes one free T-shirt per registration (supplies are limited).

Race route: Canoe/kayak two miles from Wescustogo Park, Route 231 North Yarmouth to river landing at Route 9. One-mile run and one-mile bike ride through Old Town House Park to finish at Route 9.

Racers may take part in any and all legs. The race is a family-friendly event with a focus on participation. Racers are advised to arrive early to position bikes, boats and cars before the starting gun. Assistance will be available for shuttling between the two parks.

Race day registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Wescustogo Park.

College credit in high school

FAIRFIELD — Kennebec Valley Community College is encouraging juniors and seniors at area high schools to take advantage of a tuition-waiver program that can allow them to earn college credits while still in high school at very affordable rates.

Students with a minimum cumulative grade point average at the B level or above and permission from their parent/guardian and guidance counselor are welcome to enroll in up to six credits of transferable general education courses at KVCC in each fall and spring semester.

Students are responsible for fees of $60.60 for each three-credit course and textbook costs. Tuition is waived. Students usually earn high school credit for these courses as well.
