LEWISTON — Elizabeth “Betty” Brown, 93, of Turner, but most recently of Auburn, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 19, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with her family by her side following a short illness.
She was born in Turner, June 17, 1919, the daughter of Clarence and Stella (Gilbert) Briggs and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
She was married to Ernest P. Brown on Oct. 15, 1940; he died on Nov. 12,
1986. She was a homemaker and was also an Avon Representative for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Ladies Circle, The Mother’s Club of Turner and the Turner Senior Citizens. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at the Turner Village Church.
Betty enjoyed the ocean and lighthouses. She especially loved spending time with all of her family and having family gatherings.
She is survived by three sons, Randy Brown and his wife, Linda, of Augusta, Jim Brown and his wife, Julie, of Turner and Bill Brown and his wife, Carri, of Scarborough; one daughter, Connie Mower and her husband, Phil, of Greene; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by an infant son, David Brown; a daughter Sharon Call; and a sister, Ruth Lind.
