DAMARISCOTTA — Richard A. Genthner, 65, of Bremen, died Monday, June 18, at Coves Edge.

Richard was born in Lewiston, June 25, 1946, the son of the late Elmer and Violet (Gilman) Genthner. He was a graduate of Pennell Institute of New Gloucester. Immediately following high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam, until being honorably discharged.

Richard loved the outdoors. Whether it was lobstering on his boat, working in the woods, or tending to his garden, Richard simply loved being out in nature. He enjoyed working around the house, reading his daily paper, discussing politics and going out to eat with his family and friends.

Richard was a hard working man who was beloved by many.

Surviving Richard is his wife of 35 years, Carol (Caron) Genthner of Bremen; four sons, Glenn Griffin and his partner, Jessica Olson, of Waldoboro, Stephen Genthner and his wife, Traci, of Damariscotta, William Genthner of North Carolina, and Heath Genthner and his wife, Mary, of Waldoboro; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Dawson and his wife, Becky, of Bremen and Robert Genthner and his wife, Barbara, of Nevada; an aunt, Merna Genthner; a dear cousin, Beverly Tyler; and his three best friends, Scott Malone, Mike Reny and Mike Rosenthal.
