Fair book dedicated to Nason

WATERFORD — At a recent meeting of the Waterford World’s Fair Association, the members voted to dedicate this year’s fair book to past president and long time member Peter Nason, who recently passed away.

Nason was also superintendent of the horseshoe events for many years and this year each trophy will be in memory of Nason. The horseshoe events will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, for the singles events and same time on Sunday, July 22, for the doubles competition.

The fairgrounds is at 36 Irving Green Road, North Waterford. Last year there were 25 singles and 35 doubles participating in the horseshoe events. Everyone is welcome. For more info call Steve Estes at 595-1101.

Locke Mills strawberry fest

LOCKE MILLS — The annual Strawberry Festival will take place from 7:30 a.m. until sold out on Saturday, June 30, at the Locke Mills Union Church. There will be Belgian waffles, shortcake, sundaes, pies and quarts of strawberries.

Campers learn about scouting

DENMARK — Participants in the Pequawket Kids Association’s Summer Adventure Camp at Brownfield-Denmark Elementary School will have the opportunity to discover Girl Scouts during a three-week sampler program on Thursdays.

The program is for all girls in grades K through five who are enrolled in PKA’s summer camp. Girls will learn what it means to be a Girl Scout, meet new friends and learn new skills all while enjoying fun-filled activities.

Photography for children

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library will host a children’s photography class with Trish Logan from L&H Photography, LLC for ages 8 though 18 from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, July 9. Preregistration is required by noon on July 4.

The program is for children who own a digital camera and would like to learn how to take better photographs.

Children should bring a camera, a drink, a snack and comfortable walking shoes. They will be outdoors taking photos and participating in a photography scavenger hunt. In case of inclement weather the workshop will be postponed to July 13.
