AUBURN — Anthony Craig Douglass “Tony,” 67, of Poland, beloved husband and best friend of Roberta (Strout) Douglass for 29 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved on June 23, from a longtime illness at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

Tony was born in Lewiston, May 16, 1945. As a child he grew up in Strong and Phillips. Tony was a longtime resident of Poland. Tony spent time in the military and served in the Vietnam War, where he was proud to serve his country.

Tony had a life-long career in construction with Callahan Brothers and Reed and Reed. In his spare time, he would enjoy putting around in his garage reconstructing cars. Tony built their first home in Poland and was always making endless improvements to their current home. Tony is a longtime lover of pets. Buddy and Boo.

Besides his wife, Roberta, Tony is survived by his brother, Skip Douglass and wife, Janice, of Buckfield; sister, Pam Paradis and husband, Dennis, of Lewiston; his two natural born children, daughter, Corinna Fordham and husband, Sean, of Virginia, and son, Troy Douglass and wife, Donna of Wales; children of Tony and Berta Douglass, daughter, Miranda Wadsworth and husband, Gary, of Turner, son, Jason Simmons of South China, daughter, Stephanie Cook of Poland and son, Cory Simmons of Poland; and grandchildren, Taylor, Tia, Austin, Kaitlyn, Meaghan, Tessa, Alicia, Sarah, Liliana, Teagan and Canyon.

He was predeceased by his father, William Douglass; and mother, Delphia Douglass-Trenoweth.

A special thanks to very dear friends of the family, Bruce and Barbara Walker, we couldn’t have gotten through this without your love and support.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the Auburn Hospice House. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last week were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family.

Tony will be sadly missed by all those who know him and loved him. May he now rest in peace and he will remain forever in our hearts.
