Book sale, art exhibit

WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library Summer Book Sale and Art Exhibit opens Saturday, June 30, at 8 a.m. and runs through July 7. The sale and exhibit will take place at a new location, 14 Old Winthrop Road, across the street from the library. Recently acquired by the library, this is one of the oldest houses in Wayne, and the former home of Eleazer and Honor Williams.

Many many community volunteers have been working long hours to clean, paint and freshen up the Williams house and the book sale is the first time the building is open to the public.

During the week-long book sale, the library will showcase the paintings of Dorle Gatti, an accomplished artist and a long time resident of Wayne. Many will remember Dorle’s Tea Shop on the corner of Old Winthrop Road and Route 133. This is the first time that Dorle’s private collection has been exhibited in Wayne.

The book sale and art exhibit will be open on Saturday, June 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Monday, July 2, through Saturday, July 7, during regular library hours: Monday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday 3 to 8 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). On Saturday, July 7, all books will be $1 per bag.

WAYNE — The Wayne Farmers’ Market annual July 4 Market Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 30. The CAMP’R Band, made up of Chris Cushman and friends, will perform and children’s activities will be offered for free.

There will be music, face painting and gardening in a pot with herbs and flowers. New this year, The Wayne General Store Small Town Bakery will offer free cupcake decorating for children.

Mt. Blue offices relocated

FARMINGTON — Due to the ongoing construction project at Mt. Blue High School, the main and guidance offices will be located at Mt. Blue Middle School through the month of July and the first two weeks of August. The location is 269 Middle St.

Normal office hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday. Office personnel can be contacted via email or at the office’s regular number, 778-3561. In addition, all mail correspondence should still be sent to the MBHS address: 129 Seamon Road, Farmington ME 04938.

July 3 parade in Jay/Livermore Falls

JAY — The Jay/Livermore Falls parade will be held on July 3. Line up starts at 3 p.m. at Memco. Parade kicks off will be at 5 p.m., starting at Memco and ending at Ware Butler in Livermore Falls.

Everyone is welcome to walk, decorate a float, cars, tractors, trucks, bikes, wagons.

A chicken barbecue and music will be held at the VFW for $8 per person. The fireworks will take place at sunset.
