LEWISTON — Elite Auto blanked Melanson Paving 6-0 Saturday to capture championship in the major division at Elliot Ave. Little League.

Elite jumped out to a lead, scoring four runs off Melanson starter Damien St. Pierre. Jalen Allison led off with a triple to right field. Hunter Hughes walked and took second on defensive indifference. Jared Rubin followed with a line-drive double to score Allison and Hughes.

Rubin advanced to third on a ground ball by Grant Hartley. Derek Foy walked and also took second on defensive indifference. A wild pitch scored Rubin. Hunter Steele and Alex Beaulieu walked. Foy scored on a passed ball and St. Pierre struck out Brandon Dube to end the inning.

Melanson, the regular season champions, struggled against Rubin, who allowed only three Melanson batters to reach base — a bloop hit by Matt Gosselin, a walk to Parker Thibeault and a hit batter — while striking out 16.

Rubin led off the third with an inside the park round tripper to make it 5-0. Dalton Wing relieved St. Pierre and quickly struck out the side in Elite’s half of the fifth. Elite added a run in the sixth off Wing.

With Elite leading 6-0, Rubin took the mound with only a few pitches left before reaching  his pitch limit. Davion Jackson struck out. Gabe Escobar grounded to Rubin and then Rubin plunked M. Gosselin before striking out Antonio Beaupre to end the game.

Elite finished the season 17-5. They were led by Coaches Shawn Dube, Tracy Knowles, Len Farinas, and Steve Hughes. The champions were led by four kids playing their final year in the Major Division: Jalen Allison, Derek Foy, Grant Hartley, and Jared Rubin.

They were also helped by a mix of new and experienced players, including all-stars. Alex Beaulieu, Sean-Michael Chabot, Brandon Dube, Brodi Farinas, Hunter Hughes and Hunter Steele. The season would not have been a success without the contributions of Sam Lemay and Ryan Handlon, who battled a season-long ankle injury. Both steadily improved and had timely hits during the season.

East Auburn Babe Ruth

AUBURN — East Auburn Babe Ruth closed its regular season with a 15-9 triumph over Mac’s Grill Saturday morning. 

Brandon Knapp and CJ Jipson led the charge offensively, scoring five runs between them while Chase Frahn, Brandon Fortier, and Earnest Charest chipped in with RBIs. 

Hurling for East Auburn were Ben Harris, Drew Tiner, Zach Boyd, Austin Culleton, Billy Duclos, Stevie Sinclair and Brandon Varney. For Mac’s Grill ,Patrick Demers and Alex Bretton each scored twice while Levi Sterling and Quinn Myrick scored one run apiece.

Apple Valley Babe Ruth

READFIELD — Maranacook posted a pair of victories in Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball.

Cody Lyon was the winning pitcher in an 8-7 triumph over Winthrop. Chris Florek cranked two doubles and a single for Maranacook. Nathan Delmar added a single. Dakota Carter tripled and singled for Winthrop. Garrett Settlechipped in a double.

Matt Delmar’s pitching exploits silenced Monmouth  in a 3-1 Maranacook win. Ethan Anthony slapped two singles and Skylar Webb whacked a double for Maranacook, Tom Small and Alex Curtis each delivered a single to lead Monmouth.

Winthrop also picked up a pair of wins in Apple Valley competition.

Matt Sekerak pitched the shutout for Winthrop in a 10-0 win over Maranacook, Sekarak helped his own cause with a double and a single. Hunter Hamlin and Caleb Fortin each singled. Jason Brooks, Nathan Delmar and Jariah Caissie had hits for Maranacook.

Ben Allen. picked up the win in a 10-3 rout of Monmouth. Dakota Carter provided the big bat with a grand slam, a double and single. Garrett Settlehad a double and a single while Adam Hachey singled twice. Avery Amero, Travis Hartford andNick Sanborn mustered Monmouth’s hits.
