Free summer meals for kids

LEWISTON — The Lewiston School Nutrition Program is offering their Summer Food Service Program meal at no charge to children. Breakfast and lunch are being served weekdays through Aug. 10 in Kennedy Park.

All meals must be eaten on the site, as participants are not allowed to remove food from the parks or playgrounds. On rainy days, children will be served at the Multi-Purpose Center.

No meals will be served on Wednesday, July 4.

Free meals are provided to all children pre-school to 18 years old who are attending school. For more information, contact 795-4106.

Winners of the quarterly club championship at Schooner Estates on June 27 were: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Trafton; second/third tie, Sue Kaluzynski and Rosemarie Goodwin with Larry Fortier and Tom Goodwin.

The new site for the Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m. games will be in the Senior Citizens room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

No game will be played on Wednesday, July 4. Games will resume on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Schooner Estates, 200 Stetson Road, Auburn.

Shaker Village nature hikes

NEW GLOUCESTER — The next monthly nature hikes held at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26, will be at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7. The hikes will go through the Shaker Woods to Sabbathday Lake, Loon’s Point, Aurelia’s Cascade and the Old County Road. Fee, $5 adults; $2 children; under 6 free.

History Barn open house July 7

NEW GLOUCESTER — The next monthly open house at the New Gloucester History Barn, Route 231, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 7.

The featured exhibits will be early 1900s insurance maps of New Gloucester. Continuing exhibits show tributes to veterans and historic wheeled vehicles associated with the town of New Gloucester. Admission is free. Sponsored by the New Gloucester Historical Society.

Babysitting 101 to be offered

AUBURN— Girl Scouts is offering a “Babysitting 101” training program for all area girls in grades 5-9.

The program will include: Getting your baby-sitting business started; playtime ideas for children of all ages; understanding the likes and dislikes of children and troubleshooting and solutions to the most common problems a baby-sitter faces.

The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28 in the Auburn area. The cost of the program is $6. There is an additional $12 membership fee for non-Girl Scouts. Membership assistance is available for the membership fee.
