JAY/LIVERMORE FALLS — During the Independence Day parade and fireworks celebration Tuesday, all veterans are invited to participate in the parade and show support for Sgt. Helaina Lake and her family.

Lake, 23, formerly of Livermore Falls and a Livermore Falls High School graduate, was seriously injured June 21 in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. She is being treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.

All veterans and those from veterans’ organizations, such as the VFW, AMVETS, and American Legion, as well as active duty and reserve members, are invited to participate.

They are asked to meet at 4 p.m. at Memco on Main Street in Jay and walk with other veterans from Memco to the end of the parade. No uniform or veterans’ organization cap is required.  The parade starts at 5 p.m.

Military members may wear their Army combat uniform/battle dress uniform, if available.
