POLAND SPRING — The duo Castlebay, aka Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee, will perform Monday, July 9, as part of the Poland Spring Preservation Society’s summer concert series.
Castlebay’s repertoire includes traditional songs and music from Scotland, Ireland and England, as well as coastal Maine. The musicians, who have recorded more than 25 albums, regularly tour throughout the East, performing at arts centers, festivals, folk clubs, schools and libraries.
Since 1993, Lane and Gosbee have also toured the United Kingdom, where they collaborated with performers on several CDs. They also composed music for a major work presented at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2001.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at All Souls Chapel. Tickets are $7.50 at the door and include refreshments. Proceeds benefit the preservation and restoration of the Maine State Building and the chapel, both of which are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The chapel will mark its centennial this year. For more information, call 998-4142 or visit www.polandspringps.org
