DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Wayside Cemetery Association in West Paris is looking for someone who would repair stones that are broken or tipped over.

Also, in the tomb there is a gravestone with the name Joyce R. Sampson, b. 1929, d. 1952. We wondered if there might be a relative who might have information on this stone. There is no record of a lot where this stone should go. — Roland, West Paris, 674-2129

ANSWER: Sun Spots knows of a couple of firms that advertise that service. Others who would like to be noted in the column should mail sunspots@sunjournal.com.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I adopted a soldier grave here in Normandy, France. His name was Eugene J. Dennis from Winslow, and he is interred in U.S. Cemetery of Colleville sur Mer, France. I try to find relatives of this soldier. Do you know if there are still relatives of this soldier? How I can be helped searching for relatives of him? Best regards. — Patrick Leullier, Normandy, France, BillyYanks@free.fr, 0666719155
ANSWER: A Google search turned up the following on findagrave.com:
Eugene J. Dennis enlisted on Oct. 12, 1942, in Portland with the 330th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Division. Army Serial Number: 31154078
Eugene was from Winslow, Kennebec County, Maine, U.S. He was single with no dependents and his aunt was listed as his next of kin: Mrs. Pauline Joseph, of Chartland St., Winslow.
His grave was adopted by Patrick Leullier of Normandy.
He was born Dec. 15, 1910, and died July 16, 1944.
There is also a Facebook page, but Patrick is quoted on it, so he clearly knows about it.
Sun Spots doesn’t know much about genealogy, but she thinks it would be very difficult to track surviving relatives of someone with so little immediate family. If anyone knows anything that might help Patrick, please let Sun Spots know.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: When was the divorce of Dennis A. Nelson and Carol Nelson published? — Dottie Thomas, dlthomas2010@roadrunner.com
ANSWER: As far as Sun Spots could tell, it hasn’t been yet. You can check again at sunjournal.com. There is a delay between when legal events occur and when they are published in newspapers. The information is submitted by the courts, and the newspaper must for it to arrive.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am a volunteer teacher at the University of Southern Maine Senior College in Lewiston. I’m looking for beading supplies for a class I would like to teach next semester.
