Authorities in Cumberland County took six suspected drug dealers off the streets Tuesday.
The sweep was the culmination of a yearlong joint investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency aimed at drug trafficking in rural Cumberland County.
Suspects arrested Tuesday morning were involved in the sale of heroin, cocaine, crack and prescription drugs such as oxycodone, according to a statement issued by the Sheriff’s Office.
Arrested were David Willette, 37, of Naples; Agostino Joseph Samson, 26, of Casco; Agostino Paul Samson, 58, of Harrison; Mark Glantz, 48, of Windham; Kevin Edwards, 29, of Harrison; and Norman Hightower, 30, of Paris.
The men were charged with one count each of felony trafficking in narcotics. Hightower was already under arrest by another agency prior to Tuesday’s sting for outstanding warrants stemming from the investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office and MDEA agents were assisted by police officers from Windham and Bridgton.
