DEAR SUN SPOTS: A cafe opened in Jay. They list Panini for one price then bill you for $1 more “because it’s a Panini.”

I was so impressed the first time we were there. I got a menu from them and went with a group of 19 ladies the next week. I hesitate to go back because I feel what they did was dishonest. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots called and spoke to Ryan, assistant manager at the Mill Street Cafe, who said he really wishes he had had an opportunity to speak with you when you were there and settle this problem for you then.

He said there is no extra charge for a Panini if you order a Panini, and that the price for those run from $6.99 to $7.99. He said you could ask for extra items that could raise the price, but not the Panini itself.

He asked what kind of sandwich you had. He said that not all sandwiches are offered as Paninis, so that if, for example, you ordered a BLT, which is not offered as a Panini, and then asked for it as a Panini, in that case there would have been an additional charge.

Ryan said he hoped you would come back to the restaurant and talk to him so he could resolve this issue for you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Two teenagers from First Baptist Church of Mexico are going on a short-term mission trip to a church in Massachusetts that ministers to the homeless in the area. The teens are collecting steel-toed boots, which will be given out to people who need them. If you have a pair of gently used steel-toed boots to donate, please call Ken, our mission’s board president, at 418-1728. We will attempt to arrange pick up of boots if possible. Thank you. — Marilla Couch, macouch@roadrunner.com
