Greetings!
I warmly invite you to come to Lisbon and learn why Maine’s annual Moxie Festival truly has Moxie – not just the soft drink, but real “Moxie.” Moxie is a great description for what has become a Maine summer tradition – not only for Mainers but also for many folks “from away.” Attendance records continue to be broken: 40,000 in 2010 followed by an estimated 50,000 in 2011. Since this is our special 30th anniversary, I recommend you come early and stay late!
The Moxie Festival Committee is very happy to be able to entice you for this anniversary year with several exciting new events:
The return of the Moxie Car Show on Sunday behind Lisbon High School;
New games for young kids, and adult games of chance throughout the three days;
And, we are especially excited to announce that for the first time the successful “Summer Concert-In-the-Park” music series will overlap with the Moxie Festival on Saturday evening of the Festival through the “Moxie Concert-In-the-Park.” The concert will include many excellent performers, and will feature two outstanding acts:
#“The Mallet Brothers” (winners of the 2011 & 2012 Portland Phoenix Music Awards for “Best Local Act,” “Best Live Act,” and “Best Local Album”), and:
The “Brian Maes Band.” Brian has toured and recorded with Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band, and Barry Goudreau of the band Boston!
The concert will begin Saturday at 4 p.m. at Lisbon’s MTM Center (the former MTM Elementary School, located in Lisbon Falls) and will be FREE TO THE PUBLIC.
In recognition of the new event, we have relocated our famous “Chicken BBQ Tent” to the MTM Center – it will serve award winning recipes from 4-7 p.m.
Also new for 2012 will be adult games of chance Friday night at Lisbon High School prior to the annual Fireworks (MUCH better than what you can try to do in your backyard!). Adult and children’s games will also accompany the MTM Center activity all day Saturday. I am also happy to report to you the return of several very popular events:
Friday through Sunday: Native American Spirit of the Wolf Pow Wow;
Saturday morning: 5K Race and the Moxie Parade (LARGEST in Maine);
Free children’s games and pony rides on Saturday;
A book signing at the famous Kennebec Fruit Co. “Moxie Store” Saturday by local author Jim Baumer, author of “MOXIE: Maine in a Bottle,” published by Maine’s own Down East Publishing;
Sunday the extremely popular Androscoggin River Race will again take place along with the return of the “Moxie Car Show” at the Lisbon High School.
And, much, much more!! I invite you to learn much more about the exciting 2012 Moxie Festival, anytime, at our website: http://www.moxiefestival.com/
Hoping to see you in Lisbon on
July 13, 14 & 15.
John Silvestri
Chairman, Moxie Festival
