NORWAY — A motorcyclist was injured on Harrison Road on Thursday when he tried to pass a sport utility vehicle as it turned into a driveway.

Michael Murphy, 51, of Harrison, was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, Norway police officer Robert Federico II. He said Murphy was riding south toward Harrison when he came up behind the SUV driven by Pamela White, 49, who was moving slowly.

Murphy said he didn’t see White’s blinker indicating she was making a left turn into her driveway, Federico said. White said she didn’t see the motorcycle coming up behind her. When she turned, Federico said, Murphy “had no other option but to put on his brakes and hope for the best.”

Federico characterized Murphy’s injuries as road rash and abrasions. He said Murphy wasn’t wearing a helmet but didn’t appear to have suffered a head injury.
