North Korean children are being taught intense hostility toward Americans by having them point toy guns at a photo of an American soldier and with anti-U.S. propaganda posted in classrooms. Those observations were published in newspapers in June. I assume that such distasteful articles and photos are being published in other communist countries.

It is disturbing enough with all the uncertainties in America, such as who will be elected president in November; how close is the U.S. to bankruptcy; how close is the end of the war in Afghanistan; how close to providing affordable health care insurance to all Americans; how close to repaying loans to communist countries; and how close is the nation before President Obama is history?

We all live in a world of hate. North Korea, having inherited an inexperienced, young dictator, worries me that some day he may show the world how much hate he has toward humanity.

Instead of concentrating on improving economic conditions in his own country, he would rather that his team of scientists work 24/7 to expand nuclear programs. He is determined to be like his father — a tyrant and a harsh ruler having absolute power to instigate world tension beyond measure.

It is imperative that Americans prepare themselves for the inevitable by stocking up on non-perishable foods and by teaching our children to love, not hate, and seek help from God with daily prayers.

Robert Lacombe, Sabattus
