FARMINGTON — Pink inspirational balloons will be sold as part of the Battle for Breast Cancer Tournament, Round 2, benefit field hockey tournament from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, and Thursday, July 26, at the cafeteria at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
The tournament is taking place at Colby College on Friday, July 27, in Waterville.
Each biodegradable balloon will be sold for $1 and includes an inscribed personalized message.
The round robin field hockey tournament will feature five Central Maine high school field hockey teams: Skowhegan, Winslow, Mt.Blue, Lawrence and Nokomis, with games being held from 3:30 to 9 p.m.
At the end of the tournament, student-athletes, coaches, and fans holding balloons will gather on the field to release the balloons with their thoughts of hope, prayers and memories of loved ones.
Inspirational balloons can also be purchased on site the day of the tournament. The cost to attend is $5 per adult, $2 for children.
The tournament beneficiary is the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center, a program of FMH in Farmington. All funds raised will be used for working people diagnosed with breast cancer at the Breast Care Center who are uninsured or under-insured.
